Get Started
Starting a Gift Basket or Gift Sales business is tough, due to the high competition. But we can help you do so successfully.
Follow the steps below to get your site:
1. Get your domain name. You need to have your domain name before you purchase your site. Tips for getting your domain:
- Purchase from a major domain name retailer - we recommend GoDaddy. This helps keep you from running into ownership problems.
- Make it speakable, and memorable. Shorter is better than long, but you usually have to use 3 words anymore, since most two-word combos are gone.
- People default to .com, it is easier for them to remember. Use a country specific domain extension (.ca, .au, etc) if you are targeting a specific geographical region.
- Do NOT get Private Registration! It will cause you problems with ownership if you do, and will complicate the SSL Certificate issue process! This is CRITICAL in the Gift Basket arena, a hidden company will make you look shady!
- Do not purchase anything else when you buy your domain name - just get the domain name and get out.
- You do not need other extensions (for example, purchasing yourdomain.com, yourdomain.net, etc). Just get one domain name. The only time you need two, is if you are going to have two websites, or if there is a common spelling issue (such as plural/singular) that might cause confusion.
2. Point your nameservers. After you purchase your domain, login to your domain name account, and go to the domain manager. Select your domain from the list, and look for an option called Nameservers, or Set Nameservers (this is located in different places for different registrars). You should set the first 2 nameservers. You may need to select an option for Custom Nameservers.
Set them to:
ns1.basicsitepack.com
ns2.basicsitepack.comIf you have problems with this, you may contact support from your domain registrar, or you may ask a question on our support forums.

After you purchase, you will receive an email that gives you instructions on how to access your site, and the first steps for changing things.
IMPORTANT! It takes 4 to 24 hours for the domain name to point to your site. We do not control this, it is a standard online and we can't change it. Until it does, you will get an error message when you try to go to your domain. This is NORMAL. You can check your site to see if it is going to the website, and when it does, you can login to the backend of the site.
